What To Look For When Buying A Pouch Laminator
When you decide to start looking for a pouch laminator you will immediately notice that there is an abundance of laminators to choose from. Before you make you your decision you are going to want to figure out exactly what you are going to be looking for when laminating pouches.
One question you will want to ask yourself is what type of documents you are going to need to laminate and what size will the documents be? Pouch laminators throats vary in size from 4 inches small to 24 inches large. If you are planning on laminating documents that are letter sized you will need a 9 inch throat to do the job.
You will also need to know what thickness of laminating pouches you will need. The standard size variations are 3mil, 5mil, 7mil and 10mil. If you opt to go with a lower end laminator you will find that they are only compatible with 3mil and 5mil laminating pouches.
Another question to ask yourself is what kind of materials are you going to beĀ laminating? Again, if you opt to choose the lower end laminator you should know that they are most likely optimized for laminating standard paper thickness…thin cardstock. If you are going to need to be laminating a thicker and heavier material you will probably want to pay the extra money to get a higher grade of laminator.
Finally, you might want to do some research on the different brand of laminators and what the different features that they might have would be. We suggest you get a laminator that has a reverse function to make sure that its easier if for some reason your laminating pouches get jammed. Another, option that we recommend is to get a laminator that has different speeds and different temperatures.
Just make sure that when you go to make your purchase that you don’t make the mistake of going in blind and just grabbing any old laminator.
